Yasmine Ware walked into Chancellor Glenn Boyce's office thinking she would speak with a prospective donor. Instead, she walked out as the University of Mississippi's 20th Harry S. Truman Scholar. Boyce surprised the junior interdisciplinary studies major with the news on April 10. Unbeknownst to Ware, her mother, father and younger brother, who traveled from their hometown of Madison, were waiting in Boyce's office.

The Ole Miss Golf Course awarded its inaugural scholarship to Anne Caramanica, of Leesburg, Virginia. Caramanica is a law studies major at the University of Mississippi and a staff member in the pro shop at the golf course. "OMGC student employees are an invaluable part of our daily operations," said Tate Anderson, manager of the Ole Miss Golf Course. "This scholarship program is a unique opportunity for us to recognize their contributions to the course, as well as their personal and academic accomplishments. We congratulate this year's recipients and remain committed to supporting our student employees."

The British government has named University of Mississippi senior Christian Boudreaux as a winner of a prestigious Marshall Scholarship, making him the university's fourth Marshall scholar ever. Created by the British Parliament in 1953, the Marshall Scholarship funds two years of American students' study toward master's degrees of their choosing in the United Kingdom. Boudreaux, an Oxford native majoring in biology, plans to work toward master's degrees in evolutionary genetics and marine systems and policies at the University of Edinburgh.

Josh Hartz, of Summit, a general business major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Sally McDonnell Barksdale and the Gloria Cox Council scholarships, two of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Jimidria Harvey, of Greenwood, a biological science major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Martha Dale Fritts Council Scholarship, one of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Addison Smith, of Batesville, a biological science major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Mary Jane and Edward R. Wilson Council Scholarship, one of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Jimmil Taylor, of Moss Point, a public policy leadership major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Patricia Lott Council Scholarship, one of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Kate Trosclair, of Biloxi, a journalism major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Margaret Barker and Phyllis Shane Council scholarships, among the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Elise Jackson, of Oxford, a computer science major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Lena Mitchell Marquette Council Scholarship, one of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Colin Doyle, of McComb, an accountancy major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Lena Mitchell Marquette Council Scholarship, one of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.
