Ole Miss Junior Madeleine Dotson Named Truman Scholar

An ordinary day turned extraordinary for Madeleine Dotson, as she was congratulated by University of Mississippi Chancellor Glenn Boyce for becoming the institution's 18th Truman Scholar. Winners were formally announced April 12 by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Boyce surprised Dotson, a junior Arabic, economics and political science major, with the news in his office on April 10, surrounded by several university leaders. The Truman Foundation, the nation's official living memorial to the 33rd U.S. president, awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service.

The Croft Scholars, the institute's most competitive freshmen, are awarded $8,000 per year for four years. Ole Miss Women's Council Awards 2022 Scholarships

University of Mississippi rising freshmen have been awarded Ole Miss Women's Council for Philanthropy scholarships, among the largest and most innovative awards on the University of Mississippi campus. The scholarships have a far greater impact on students' lives than just providing them with financial assistance, said Liz Randall, chair of the OMWC. "We give our scholarship recipients access to caring guidance from mentors, significant training in leadership skills, exceptional life and career development, and meaningful personal development through travel and cultural opportunities," Randall said. "OMWC's goal is to prepare our scholars for extraordinary lives and careers, while encouraging them to develop a lifelong commitment to creating a caring, more ethical world."

Three UM Students Named Truman Finalists

Three University of Mississippi juniors who have worked to improve access to education and to raise awareness about mental health issues have been named finalists for the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship. National finalists for the honor were announced Feb. 18. Jilkiah Bryant, a junior public health and health sciences major from Macon; Andy Flores, a junior public policy leadership and philosophy major from Ocean Springs; and Alex Bush, a junior psychology major from Denver, are among them. All three are members of the university's Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College.

UM Welcomes 13 Stamps Scholars for 2022

A new cohort of 13 Stamps Scholars has enrolled at the University of Mississippi. The Stamps Scholars Program awards scholarships based on academic excellence, leadership experience and exceptional character. The new class brings the number of Stamps Scholars at Ole Miss to 58, making the university the second-largest in the program.

12 Named UM Stamps Scholars

With the addition of 12 freshmen, the Stamps Scholars Program at the University of Mississippi is maintaining its growth. Stamps Scholars are chosen based on academic excellence, leadership experience and exceptional character. The new class brings the total number of Stamps Scholars at UM to 51, making Ole Miss the second-largest across the U.S. and the United Kingdom in the Stamps Scholars Program. UM is the only Mississippi university and among only six Southeastern Conference schools that awards Stamps Scholarships to selected students.
