Ethan Lambert, of Corinth, who graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in May, has been selected as one of four 2023 Portz Scholars in the National Collegiate Honors Council's annual competition for outstanding undergraduate honors papers. Lambert won $375 and a free trip to present his honors thesis at the 58th annual NCHC conference in Chicago this November.

Ole Miss Graduate Margaret Walker Awarded $8,500 Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship

University of Mississippi alumna Margaret Walker of Suwanee, Georgia, received a fellowship worth $8,500 from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Walker is one of 62 recipients nationwide to receive the fellowship. Walker received a dual bachelor's degree in public policy leadership and integrated marketing communications from UM in May. As a Phi Kappa Phi fellow, Walker will pursue a Juris Doctor at the University of Virginia School of Law.

UM Student Destinee Manning Selected for Robert L. Smith, M.D. Scholars Program

University of Mississippi student Destinee Manning has been selected for the Robert L. Smith, M.D. Scholars Program as part of the Jackson Heart Study Graduate Training and Education Center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, or UMMC-GTEC, in Jackson. Manning, as well as UM students Joanne Canedo and Christine Hamadani, will participate in the two-year program, which provides intensive research training and mentoring experience through various learning and networking opportunities.
