The University of Mississippi, affectionately known as Ole Miss, is the state's flagship university. Included in the elite group of R1: Doctoral Universities - Highest Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification, it has a long history of producing leaders in public service, academics and business. With more than 23,000 students, Ole Miss is the state's largest university and is ranked among the nation's fastest-growing institutions. Who's Who Among Students is a respected honor program recognizing seniors who excel academically and demonstrate leadership and community service on and off campus.

University of Mississippi Students Inducted Into Tri-Alpha Honor Society

Over 120 University of Mississippi students were welcomed into the Tri-Alpha Honor Society, which honors the academic excellence of first-generation college students. The university held an induction ceremony on March 27 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center Student Union Ballroom. Ceremonies on the Booneville, Tupelo, Grenada and DeSoto regional campuses took place in early April.

University of Mississippi Student Kennady Hertz to Effect Environmental Policy Changes Through Fellowship

University of Mississippi graduate student Kennady Hertz will spend 2025 gaining valuable environmental policy experience in the nation's capital as part of an elite fellowship program. Hertz, an integrated marketing and communications graduate student, is among the 88 finalists chosen for the 2025 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Sea Grant John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship Program. The yearlong fellowship selects students and recent graduates from advanced degree programs to work alongside federal agencies that tackle critical marine, coastal and Great Lakes policy issues.

University of Mississippi Senior Christian Boudreaux Chosen as 2025 Marshall Scholar

The British government has named University of Mississippi senior Christian Boudreaux as a winner of a prestigious Marshall Scholarship, making him the university's fourth Marshall scholar ever. Created by the British Parliament in 1953, the Marshall Scholarship funds two years of American students' study toward master's degrees of their choosing in the United Kingdom. Boudreaux, an Oxford native majoring in biology, plans to work toward master's degrees in evolutionary genetics and marine systems and policies at the University of Edinburgh.

University of Mississippi Students Inducted Into Phi Kappa Phi

University of Mississippi students were welcomed into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor societies for all academic disciplines. The university held an induction ceremony on Nov. 3 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on campus. Phi Kappa Phi membership is based on a student's character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10% of their class.
