University of Mississippi students were welcomed into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor societies for all academic disciplines. The university held an induction ceremony on Nov. 3 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on campus. Phi Kappa Phi membership is based on a student's character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10% of their class.

Kelly Robinson, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, a public policy leadership major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Nancy Harrleson Akin Council Scholarship and Nobel and Dorothy Harrleson Council Scholarship, among the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Parker Smith, of St. Charles, Missouri, a general business major at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded the Donna H. Glenn Council Scholarship, one of the largest and most innovative awards at the university.

Abigail Andrews, of Brandon, majoring in allied health studies, was named an Ole Miss First scholar at the University of Mississippi this fall. Gwendolyn Pfrenger, of Oxford, a junior art history and English double major at the University of Mississippi, was named one of the Stamps Impact Prize winners. She will pursue the project "One Student's Classroom: Mayfield's Time at Ole Miss" with faculty mentor Jeannie Speck-Thompson, university archivist and assistant professor, J.D. Williams Library.

Cohen will pursue the project "Connecting the Dots: Exploring the Interdisciplinary Nature of the Arts Through Community Events" with his faculty mentor Michael Barnett, chair of the Department of Theatre & Film and professor of lighting design.

Alex Middlecoff, of Knoxville, Tennessee, received the Harold Parker Memorial Scholarship, which will provide $8,000 annually toward his education at the University of Mississippi. Middlecoff is one of 18 freshmen accepted into UM's Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College who are the recipients of some of the most bountiful scholarships at the university.
