The British government has named University of Mississippi alumna Jilkiah Bryant as a winner of a prestigious Marshall Scholarship, making her the third Marshall Scholar in the university's history. Bryant, a 2023 graduate with a degree in public health and health sciences, plans to spend the next two years studying community health at Sheffield University in England.

Ole Miss First scholars have been named at the University of Mississippi this fall. Students selected for the scholarship demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement, leadership and commitment to service. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine in partnership with Schmidt Futures awarded Sumeet Kulkarni (MEd 21) the 2023 Eric and Wendy Schmidt Award.

More than 190 University of Mississippi students were welcomed into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor societies for all academic disciplines. The university held an induction ceremony on Oct. 25 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on campus. Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is based on a student's character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10% of their class.

Brandon Kriplean, of Franklin, Tennessee, a senior international studies major at the University of Mississippi, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. The Rhodes Scholarship allows students from around the world to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom to complete their master's or doctoral degree.

Madeleine Dotson, a senior majoring in economics, Arabic and political science at the University of Mississippi, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. The Rhodes Scholarship allows students from around the world to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom to complete their master's or doctoral degree.

The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society has selected a University of Mississippi student as the sole recipient of its annual scholarship. Elsie Buskes, a junior geology major from Oxford and member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, will receive $1,000 to help her pursue a career in near-surface geophysics, which involves analyzing the ground just below the surface.

Kaleb Henry, of Waynesboro, is on a mission. The Ole Miss First scholar and University of Mississippi junior is studying biochemistry and biology with a goal to one day provide health care for his hometown community. With plans to become a physician specializing in pediatrics or orthopedics, Henry's Ole Miss First scholarship is supporting his journey.

Keerthin Karthikeyan, a University of Mississippi freshman with a strong passion for leadership, plans to excel in the political arena as an international lawyer or a government diplomat - a career to be launched thanks to support from one of the most prestigious awards available to college students. Karthikeyan, of Oxford, is a member of the Stamps Scholar freshman cohort at UM this fall. The highly competitive Stamps Scholarship provides students' full cost of attendance, as well as a $12,000 enrichment fund for unique educational pursuits, including travel, research, internships and academic conferences.
